Youth Mindfulness

Established in 2016, Youth Mindfulness is a charity committed to enabling a healthier, happier and more compassionate society by sharing mindfulness with children, young people and adults. The core business of the charity is currently in developing and delivering educational and training programmes that seek to have a transformative impact on the lives of participants.

Mindfulness is a practice of awareness. It means to be deeply in touch with what is happening in the present moment. Through the practice of mindfulness we learn to bring awareness to our breath and our body and reconnect with the vitality of our somatic experience. We learn to reconnect with ourselves, with nature and with other people. Practicing mindfulness enables us to cultivate positive inner qualities like joy, happiness, and love. It also enables us to develop the strength and compassion and to embrace difficult emotions or be present for and support others when they experience difficulty.

We offer 4 Key Programmes:

KIDS PROGRAMME

The Youth Mindfulness Kids programme is a 16-lesson introduction to mindfulness for 7 to 11 year olds, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning. The lessons build up sequentially, introducing and exploring new facets of mindfulness with each lesson. The first six lessons focus on cultivating the foundational axioms of mindfulness: intention, attention and attitude. As the course progresses, children then learn to cultivate gratitude, handle difficult thoughts and emotions, and finally develop kindness towards themselves and others

SOMA PROGRAMME

This Programme is a ground-breaking, trauma-informed approach to teaching mindfulness to teens, young adults, and at-risk groups. Using kinaesthetic activities, videos, and reflective discussion, the programme takes participants on a journey of self-awareness bringing greater agency, improved emotional regulation and healthier relationships.

ONE YEAR PROGRAMME

Cultivating a mindful life, building mindful communities, our One-Year Programme is designed for adults who wish to make a significant commitment to deepening their mindfulness practice, in order to be able to share mindfulness with others from a place of confidence, compassion and authenticity. Participants learn to deliver our Mindfulness for Life 8-week course for adults and train in the skills of teaching mindfulness: embodiment, explanation, guidance, and enquiry.

MINDFULNESS FOR LIFE

Mindfulness for Life is an 8-week, in-depth introduction to mindfulness. It is designed to empower individuals to develop a nourishing and resilient personal meditation practice. It is offered to teachers and the general public. We find this programme fits well for schools when offered to teachers whilst the Kids Programme is being delivered to the pupils. It also supports teachers in their personal well-being.

We can offer the programme to groups within school/community groups.

It is also available locally in Glasgow at a cost of £195.00 per person
