Limelight Music are delighted to announce that Limelight Music have been shortlisted for the People’s Project award with The National Lottery, in association with ITV and STV!
Their project: Life, Stories & Dreams is competing in the STV West region for a grant to change musicians with impairments’ lives. A two-minute film of Limelight Music introducing our project is available here :
Life, Stories & Dreams will help change lives, providing 10 musicians with impairments one full year’s coaching and support to create and deliver a full-scale musical production, from concept to completion, including instrumentation, composition/arranging, recording technology, rehearsal techniques and performance skills.
The final concerts, which are also included in the project, will showcase a unique and original collection of songs featuring opportunities for participants to express their unique perspectives on disability and equalities, as well as ultimately create a new and exciting body of work. The music will include elements of the musicians’ own life stories, grouped together in a coherent storyline which forms the overall narrative of the piece.
There are currently very few opportunities for impaired musicians, and without the mentoring and development this program will offer, most are left without support to be creative and to find work in professional environments.Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn and make music their way and they want to give our musicians an opportunity to do this.
