Glasgow City Council (GCC) is committed to delivering inclusive economic growth that supports the creation of jobs, tackles poverty and improves the city’s health; and have developed the Space for Growth initiative, which looks to assist start-up businesses, social enterprises, creative organisations and community groups in supporting access to affordable accommodation. In doing so, it will provide a platform for sustainable growth, helping to grow local economies and build stronger communities with the overall aim of increasing local employment opportunities.
To assist GCC with this they are now seeking:
Any organisations interested in space would be assessed against the intended outcomes of the initiative and determined on a ‘best-fit’ approach aligning the organisations purpose and its potential for success against the needs of the local community. Terms of occupancy will be agreed that best meet the needs of the tenant and will reflect the particular needs of individual buildings and their locales, and the application of the council’s concessionary rents policy may apply.
Partick Burgh Hall
Partick Burgh Hall has been chosen as the location of a Hub for the city’s
North-West Strategic Planning Area. The hall is managed by Glasgow Life, is
located to the west of the city approximately three miles from the city centre
and less than half a mile from Kelvin Hall subway station. Dumbarton Road
is located to the south and the property overlooks the West of Scotland Cricket
Ground to the North. The hall is well used and valued by the local
community and there are opportunities to extend the use of the building for
Space for growth purposes. Currently, a room has been made available within the
hall (approx. 8m x 10m), located next to kitchen and toilet facilities, which
can be remodelled to accommodate a range of activities. The council will
provide development funding for this purpose in collaboration with the
successful tenant and Glasgow Life.
Please take some time to fill in the survey which can
then be passed onto GCC to progress further.
