Live/Work Unit Survey from Queens Cross

Queens Cross are considering building a small number of live/work units in the Hamiltonhill area. These would provide flexible space that allow small businesses to combine their living accommodation and work space. The Hamiltonhill area sits overlooking the canal just north of the city centre. These units would form part of a larger regeneration of the area with new homes, shops and infrastructure. The link above leads to a survey will help them understand the demand for this type of space, the design needs to consider and the price implications. Take the survey here.

The aim of the Civil Society Prize is to reward and encourage tangible initiatives and achievements by civil society organisations or individuals that have made a significant contribution to promoting European identity and integration. Its overall objective is to raise awareness of the contribution that civil society organisations and individuals can make to the creation of a European identity and citizenship in a way that underpins the common values that shore up European integration.

The next phase of the Social Enterprise Eco-system map will take you to an interactive version of the recently published map. This version contains hyper-links out to a page per organisation or initiative then links out to all appropriate websites. When clicking on each thematic area the others grey out making a bit easier to navigate. There is also a simple “how to use” guide page.

Our huge congratulations to Susan who received the Strathclyde Academy for Distinguished Entrepreneurs award from Strathclyde University last week. Susan is the first social entrepreneur to be inducted into the SADE - and the 17th in total.

GCVS names Ian Bruce as new Chief Executive

Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS), the main development and support agency for voluntary and community organisations in Glasgow, is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Bruce as its new Chief Executive. Ian will take over from the current Chief Executive Helen Macneil, who retires at the end of June, after 28 years with the organisation, 16 years as its CEO.

GSEN appoints new Chair

This week saw Betty Elliott step down as Chair of GSEN. Betty has had a significant impact on the development and growth of the organisation. On behalf of the staff and Board our sincere thanks go to Betty for all of her guidance and support over the years, including our transition from an unincorporated organisation to the organisation we are now.
