An innovative new version of Just Enterprise, the Scottish Government’s programme of business support for social enterprises and enterprising charities is currently in the works. With new topics including digital marketing, internationalisation and social impact measurement, the programme will help social enterprises become more sustainable and have more impact.

Celebrated social innovation incubator Good Ideas expands to Glasgow

Applications opened earlier this week for Good Ideas Glasgow, following two introductory workshops in April and June. There are 12 places on the six-month incubator, with additional spots on the two-day workshop that kicks off the programme in September.

Glasgow Social Enterprise Board: Social Enterprise Survey 2019

The team which supports social enterprise in Glasgow City Council has a summer intern to conduct research. As part of this work, a short survey has been developed. It would be most helpful if you could take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire and provide your views on the issues raised. Deadline for completed responses is Thursday the 1 st of August 2019.

Kick Off Project 2019 from SIE and GCU

SIE are currently seeking organisations to be involved in this year’s Kick Off Project at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). Now in its fifth year the Kick Off Project sees final-year digital design students undertake design challenges on behalf of client organisations over a four-week period (late Sept – late Oct).

Access Africa Programme

The Access Africa Programme enables Scottish social enterprises and social entrepreneurs to explore and expand into African markets. It provides market research and business development support, funded by the Scottish Government, to enterprises and individuals who have an idea, product, service or model that could make a real impact in Sub-Saharan Africa. Delivered by our Edinburgh-based office alongside our teams in Ghana, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia, we have so far supported more than 20 Scottish organisations and individuals to take their first steps into African markets.

Live/Work Unit Survey from Queens Cross

Queens Cross are considering building a small number of live/work units in the Hamiltonhill area. These would provide flexible space that allow small businesses to combine their living accommodation and work space. The Hamiltonhill area sits overlooking the canal just north of the city centre. These units would form part of a larger regeneration of the area with new homes, shops and infrastructure. The aim of the Civil Society Prize is to reward and encourage tangible initiatives and achievements by civil society organisations or individuals that have made a significant contribution to promoting European identity and integration. Its overall objective is to raise awareness of the contribution that civil society organisations and individuals can make to the creation of a European identity and citizenship in a way that underpins the common values that shore up European integration.

The next phase of the Social Enterprise Eco-system map will take you to an interactive version of the recently published map. This version contains hyper-links out to a page per organisation or initiative then links out to all appropriate websites. When clicking on each thematic area the others grey out making a bit easier to navigate. There is also a simple “how to use” guide page.
