It’s been a big few weeks for the NHS Credit Union, with a new mobile banking app being launched; a successful recruitment campaign in Fife and a new Chief Executive taking up office.
The mobile banking app began to be rolled out to the membership earlier this month. It has already proved popular, with more than 2000 regular users.
Alongside the launch of the app, a membership drive began in Fife, with the Credit Union team undertaking a number of site visits to local hospitals and health centres. Supported by UNISON and the internal communications team at NHS Fife, the campaign has produced incredible results.
The first five weeks have seen membership of the credit union in Fife increase from 106 to 173 – a rise of 63.2%. Total membership of the organisation, which has its office in the Govan area, has now exceeded 18,000 and stands today at 18,016.
In the midst of all this activity, the credit union also welcomed a new Chief Executive, as Ruth Dorman took over from Robert Kelly – who is now Chief Executive Officer at ABCUL, the umbrella body for UK credit unions.Reflecting on her first days in post, Ruth said: “I knew I was joining a successful organisation – and the success of the App and the Fife campaign certainly shows we are moving in the right direction. I look forward to welcoming more members into our financial family and continuing to help care for the financial welfare of NHS staff from Shetland to Sheffield.”
