Branding Competition – Brand for Growth : The Results

Brand for Growth is an opportunity for social enterprises with high impact potential but with limited resources to take some time out and receive in-depth technical support, from a team of experienced graphic designers, to consider their branding. Funded by the Scottish Government as part of the 3 year Social Enterprise Action Plan ‘Building a Sustainable Social Enterprise Sector,’ Brand for Growth is a competitive programme aimed at ambitious social enterprises who can bring something to the table themselves even if that is just time, passion and commitment. The programme is being delivered by BOLD, part of the Community Enterprise family.

Last years cohort can be seen at https://bold-studio.co.uk/assets/files/brand-for-growth/A4%20BfG%202018-19%20summary%20boards.pdf It is more than a logo, but is aimed at transforming organisations.

Testimonial from a previous participant : “This has been a really positive experience for us that came at the perfect time in our development as an organisation. We have rebranded from Dundee Association for Mental Health to Wellbeing Works, and the feedback we have had on the rebrand is fantastic. The people who attend our projects have said it's a better fit for who we are and what we do, and has really helped with our own strategy of making the shift from focussing on mental illness to wellbeing. It's also great to have a brand that is easily recognisable, transferable and is also clean and current. You might have gathered that I am delighted with it!” CEO, Wellbeing Works

This year we received 22 applications, most of which were of very high quality and the panel found it challenging to select the successful ones. Decision were taken based on the difference that applicants thought this would make to their social and financial impact.

The successful candidates for Brand for Growth 2019 are;

Move on, a charity of over 20 years which work with vulnerable young people and people affected by homelessness to help them unlock their untapped potential.

  • Music Broth, a new social enterprise Musical Instrument & Equipment Library
  • RE-make in Crieff, “making great stuff from old stuff” focussing on both recycling and changing lives
