Health Issues in the Community (HIIC) training course

CHEX hosts the tutor network for HIIC and the tutor training for the courses. HIIC is designed to enable participants to develop their understanding of the range of factors that affect their health and the health of their communities and to explore how these factors can be addressed by using community development, that is by coming together to take collective action on the issues of importance to them.

Beth Welsh Awarded Minerva Award at the Credit Union ‘Oscars’

Beth Welsh, Pioneer Mutual Credit Union, was honoured to receive the inaugural Minerva Award – For the Empowerment of Girls and Women at the ninth annual Edward Filene Credit Union Awards for Performance Excellence. Credit Union leaders from across the UK gathered on the 23rd November in Manchester at the Marriot, to celebrate the success of the nominees and winners at the awards, know at the ‘Oscars’ for the credit union sector. The awards recognise the many achievements of credit unions with 14 different categories within Leadership, Enterprise and Community, celebrating the entire range of activities in which credit unions participate; and the 2019 awards saw an unprecedented level of entries.

GSEN Open Letter regarding Social Enterprise Places programme for Scotland

Many of you may have seen the recent announcement of the Social Enterprise Places Programme for Scotland. Whilst we are, and have been, supportive of initiatives that benefit social enterprise, on this occasion we have significant concerns regarding this proposal and feel there is merit in this open letter, intended to encourage dialogue and transparency in delivering, both at a national or local level, the best outcome for social enterprise.
