As the name suggests, the Happy Friday Group meet every Friday in Chirnside, Scottish Borders. The group has been meeting regularly for some time now and they’re ready to take the next step and appoint a Facilitator and Co-ordinator to work with them for 4-5 hours a week.

The Facilitator and Co-ordinator will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the group has a suitable venue to meet at each week;
  • Work with the group members to develop a programme of stimulating events, initially based in-doors but potentially looking at suitable outdoor activities over a period of time;
  • Ensuring everyone in the group has the opportunity to develop the activities and that these meet the individual and group’s outcomes;
  • Organise catering for the group;
  • Engage volunteers and others who may want to assist the group and its objectives; and
  • Undertake any other duties required of the group.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a similar role with elderly adults and preferably have knowledge and experience of working with people who have suffered from a stroke or have Alzheimer’s or dementia.

You will be able to demonstrate that you have facilitated and co-ordinated events, meetings and group activities for small, community-based groups and will be able to develop the programme with the users, ensuring the group remains stimulating and safe both indoors and out.

The successful candidate will require to undergo a PVG Check

In return, the group offer a fantastic bunch of people to work with and an hourly rate of pay of £9.00 per hour.

This is a hugely rewarding role for the right person and you will be employed directly by the Happy Friday Group.
