Freelance Opportunities - Urban Roots

Urban Roots are looking for freelance workers for the following;

They are holding drop in information sessions at Toryglen Community Base on Wednesday 26th February 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm where people can come along and find out more about their work and what’s involved in these roles.

Alternatively people can send a CV and a short covering paragraph outlining their relevant work experience to by 12 noon on Monday 2nd March.

Board Vacancy - Repairel CIC

REPAIREL CIC is looking for new people to join their board of directors. It is an opportunity to join them at this exciting time of shaping their new organisation and make a real impact.

REPAIREL CIC is a new social enterprise created to respond to the climate emergency at a local and actionable level. REPAIREL’s first aim is to create an environmentally conscious Shoe Repair Hub/Lab in the North West of Glasgow that will help people break away from the throwaway culture of buying and discarding shoes, reduce shoe waste and facilitate innovation and circular design practices through 3 interlinked elements joined together in one creative space:

  1. Repair Hub: Providing access to shoe repair equipment and support for people to repair their OWN shoes and extend their lifespan.
  2. Sustainable Fashion: Accepting shoe donations, fixing shoes that are repairable and repurposing those that are beyond repair to make our own sustainable shoe collection.
  3. Fab Lab: facilitating digital fabrication and rapid prototyping within a small-scale workshop, democratising access to the tools, education and resources for invention and manufacturing, rethinking supply chains and exploring how communities can be powered by technology at the grassroots level.

Board Vacancy - Chair, Theatre Nemo

Theatre Nemo is a small thriving charity based in central Glasgow that provides creative arts programmes for people suffering from mental health conditions. In the last 21 years since its formation Theatre Nemo has supported men, women and young people with mental health conditions through its projects in the community, hospitals, schools and prisons, and has indirectly contributed to an improved life for those individuals’ family and friends.

Theatre Nemo is seeking a relevantly experienced Chair for its Board of Directors. The post requires knowledge of the third sector and operation of charitable organisations and a broad understanding of the mental health sector in Scotland.

Role Summary

Theatre Nemo is seeking a Chair with a mental health and charity background to lead the Board. Theatre Nemo is currently embarked on a name and brand change process so particular skills in media, publicity and communications would be an advantage. The current Board has a Treasurer and a Vice Chair (who will undertake much of the sectretarial role for the new Chair). It also has expertise in Justice, NHS/HSCP, Mental Health, Third Sector Management, Social Media skills and Fundraising and Children and Young People.

Role Description

The role will entail:

  • Organising and Chairing the Tri-monthly Board meeting (typically an early evening meeting on a week day every three months)
  • General support for TN and its activities through representing TN in some networking circles, attending some TN events, etc
  • An agreement on contribution to the fund raising activities through personal efforts (eg. sponsored activities) or promoting TN with the private / public sector through own business network
  • Liaising with Board Members between meetings as required.
  • Advice to the Board on general third sector matters.
  • Liaising with the CEO and staff between meetings as required.
  • Ad-hoc advice to the staff on relevant matters depending on experience.
  • Organising and Chairing meetings twice a year for strategic discussion with the rest of the board.
