Sunny Cycles recently shared a number of fantastic stories about the work they do and the personal wins from people they support!
We wanted to start by celebrating Janine and her incredible achievements!
Janine, who has cerebral palsy, is cycling 1km on an adapted bike on 7th August to raise funds for Sunny Cycles—an inclusive charity helping people of all abilities access cycling.
Janine cannot walk or talk—but she can cycle.
With the support of Sunny Cycles and a specially adapted trike, she has found a way to move her legs, reclaim some freedom, and build physical and emotional resilience. What began as a weekly session has become a vital routine—she now rides up to three times a week.
For people with complex disabilities, opportunities like this are rare. That’s why Janine is taking on her biggest challenge yet: cycling one full kilometre from Sunny Cycles' base at Glasgow Green to Nelson’s Monument on 7th August.
A kilometre may not sound like much—but for Janine, it’s huge. And she’s doing it to help others gain access to the same freedom she’s found.
You can read a short poem below written by Janine that beautifully captures her journey and connection to cycling.
