Saturday 11th April | 10AM - 5PM | The Pyramid at Anderston, Glasgow
In these polarising times it can feel harder than ever to connect with people we don’t know. At the same time, many local groups are struggling with low numbers and burnout.
CMJ, CEMVO and Friends of The Earth Scotland are bringing together people from the climate, migrant and social justice movements to connect and share skills in a day of practical and fun workshops. This day is for anyone who is interested in these movements, whether you're brand new to organising or you're an old hand who wants to get back into it.
There will be a shared lunch together, and space to meet and connect with people from different groups in Glasgow. This is a free event, with childcare at the venue, as well as a dedicated quiet/prayer space. Transport costs covered for anyone who needs it.
There will be sessions on:
The rise of far right violence and narratives that scapegoat migrant communities and push climate denial into the mainstream needs a collective response, rooted in local organising and community connection, to build power and deradicalise people at risk of being recruited by the far right.
What builds people power is local organising: street by street, community by community. To be able to do this effectively, we need to build more capacity and connectivity across our local groups, and then get out there, talk to other people and bring them along too.
