Glasgow City Council has reopened the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) Community Support Fund, with over £100,000 in funding still available for local projects that aim to improve air quality and support climate action.
The fund is open to a wide range of organisations, including:
Charities
Housing associations
Community interest companies (CICs)
Universities and colleges
Voluntary sector organisations
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 6 October 2025.
During the previous round, over 60 applications were received, with £620,409 awarded to 18 organisations. Funded projects included improvements to children’s play areas, free bike schemes, food-growing spaces, solar panel installations, peatland restoration, urban greening, and air quality education.
This phase of funding comes from the remaining £111,591 of the original £732,000 made available from residual LEZ penalty revenue. A detailed guidance pack is available to help applicants through the process.
In total, almost £1 million of LEZ income is being reinvested into Glasgow, including £250,000 allocated to tree planting and greening activities, supporting cleaner air and greener streets across the city.
