Design-Led Innovation in Scotland
3 Aug 2026
Wednesday 16 Sep | 12 - 4PM | National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, Paisley, Renfrewshire
Scottish Enterprise, 4C Design and NMIS are hosting an event to explore how design-led innovation can de-risk ideas, improve manufacturing, and help you to scale with confidence.
This in-person awareness-raising event will explore how strong design at the early stages of innovation can help turn ideas into scalable, manufacturable products and processes. The session will focus on the theme “Make it right, make it here, make it now” and is aimed at manufacturing businesses with ambitions to scale, automate and commercialise new ideas.
The event will include:
- Lunch and networking, followed by a welcome and scene-setting session on good design for manufacture and automation
- A session on “Make it right” with 4C Design, focusing on de-risking innovation through design, followed by “Make it here” with NMIS, looking at testing, prototyping and scaling production
- “Make it now”, hosted by Scottish Enterprise, covering the support available to help you move from idea to commercialisation
- The afternoon will close with a panel discussion and Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on how design-led innovation could support your product, process or idea
