Combating Misogyny with Women's History | Protests and Suffragettes
31 Aug 2026
Protests and Suffragettes have worked for years to develop resources on Scotland’s Suffrage History, partnering with preeminent scholars and community groups to research women who campaigned across the country.
2028 marks the Centenary of the Equal Franchise Act — the landmark moment when women finally gained the vote on equal terms with men.
As we approach that anniversary, they aim to raise the profile of Scotland’s role in the struggle for equality, bring overlooked local stories back into public view, and connect that history with the continuing work for equality in today's world. They've launched a new 12-week social media campaign connecting Scotland’s suffrage histories with contemporary inequalities women and girls continue to face today.
