Breast Cancer Now | Train the Trainer Programme and Community Engagement Grant

Breast Cancer Now are delivering completely FREE Train the Trainer (TtT) breast health promotion training for all community-based third sector and public sector organisations, health care professionals and health promotion organisations.

The goal is to ensure that more people in Glasgow have confidence in being breast and chest aware and attend their routine screening appointments when invited. The earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the treatment options and outcomes are.

The training will enable participants to be able to promote being breast and chest aware, how to recognise, check, and report new or unusual breast and chest changes to GPs and provide local breast screening information to people in their own wider communities

All participants will receive a comprehensive course workbook, access to additional resources, a dedicated online learning hub and ongoing support following the training. They will also receive a Breast Cancer Now certificate upon completion.

Breast Cancer Now also have a community engagement grant of up to £1,500 that trainees will be eligible to apply for to help them undertake activities to spread the breast awareness messaging throughout their own communities.

The course will be delivered via the following options:

  • 4 hour online workshop via Microsoft Teams | Thurs 28th May, 10AM - 2:30PM
  • 4 hour online workshop via Microsoft Teams | Tues 16th June, 10AM - 2:30PM
  • 6 hour in-person event at their Glasgow City Centre office | Tues 23rd June, 10AM - 4PM (lunch provided)
  • Self-directed eLearning course | Approx 2 hours to complete and can be done in stages

The only requirements for participation are:

  • Completing some short surveys (pre-course, post-course, every 2 months and final 12-month follow-up)
  • A commitment to sharing the key messages from the training to as many people as possible within the local communities you support

If you'd like to book or set up a meeting to get more info, email trainthetrainer@breastcancernow.org and a member of the Scotland dedicated Train the Trainer team will be in touch!
